A Note From Matt Donahue

It was good to see people out and about again at the AWS

re: Invent conference in Las Vegas at the end of last month. After two years of low attendance, this year’s event drew 65,000 people. AWS showcased some exciting products to look forward to as we head in 2023.

While there, I thought of the benefits these offerings might give to our customers in the not-so-distant future. AWS’s Health Lake allows for easily ingesting key health data and provides a simple interface where clinicians can easily gain insights without hospitals needing to make large investments in data scientists. I envision this as a valuable tool when integrated across a hospital’s suite of clinical systems, such as the EHR, EMR, and various PACS systems. In these times where health systems need to do more with less, this could be a powerful addition to providing patient-centric care.

If 2020 was the year healthcare had to rapidly adopt remote technology and 2021 was the year it continued, 2022 was the year we stood back and said, wow, we did it. Now we need to secure it. Add to that, the ONC Cures Act deadline coming at the end of the month, security has even more importance than ever.

And in the happiest season of all, we couldn’t be happier about the addition of our Sensato Cybersecurity offerings and John Gomez. Sensato’s holistic security approach broadens the IT resources we can offer you. We pride ourselves in providing our customers a worry-free and dependable EHR experience and (as I’ve been quoted in the past), we continue to pledge making their EHR as reliable to clinicians as their stethoscope. I am truly looking forward to working with John and excited to see what fresh take he will give to our OpSus Cloud.

December at the Donahue house means holiday movies. I love it when my 16-year-old son will still watch movies he’s outgrown with his younger siblings. No one goes to bed on Christmas Eve until we’ve watched Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! a ritual that began many years ago.

I wish you and your family an enjoyable and memorable holiday season and thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

Advance Authorization Now Available

CloudWave is pleased to offer a new way to streamline the way we deliver changes to your OpSus Cloud Services.

Incremental adjustments to the scope of your cloud service are to be expected, but the timing and process may not always be convenient. And delaying the implementation of service change requests while waiting on a signature can delay addressing small issues that can lead to bigger problems.

CloudWave is now able to provide a way for our cloud customers to mitigate the administrative burden of these requests by allowing key personnel to pre-approve routine change orders.

With Advance Authorization, you set the boundaries. Adding components, expanding storage, increasing capacity – these are all change order categories covered under your Advance Authorization Agreement. You pre-select the maximum monthly charge amount of the change order ahead of time, so there are no surprises. And you can limit who on your team can submit a request through this program.

Why choose Advance Authorization?
Advance Authorization offers agility and the ability to address issues quickly. You no longer need to wait for the approval and signature of every change order to be processed before a service request can be opened. The OpSus team can respond to your needs as they arise.

How does Advance Authorization work?
First, the OpSus team will verify that the change request was made by an authorized individual. Once the requestor’s privileges are confirmed, the change order is documented and a copy is sent for your records. The changes are provisioned, and you are notified when they are complete.

How do I join the program?
Contact your Customer Success Manager or Sales Director. They will provide a straightforward one-page form where you customize the parameters of your program and choose your designated requestors. One signature enables the smooth and timely execution of routine changes and minor updates.

Meet Kelli Watson: Director of Solutions Delivery & Security Operations

Many CloudWave employees have spent their careers in healthcare IT.

If the Healthcare world had superheroes, Kelli Watson would be one of them. As Director of Solutions Delivery & Security Operations for CloudWave’s Sensato team, Kelli Watson leads the Cybersecurity Tactical Operations Center also known as the CTOC. The CTOC is an integral part of the Cybersecurity-as-a-Service solution acting as an extension of a hospital’s IT team.

Keeping watch 24/7, the CTOC monitors hospital environments and responds to all indications of a potential cyber-attack with alerts night and day.

“Ultimately CTOC will integrate with the CloudCare Service Desk and provide an even stronger, more formidable protector for all of our healthcare customers,” she explained.

Kelli joined Sensato in 2015 after working for the services and implementation team at Medecision, a company that provides data-based insights to improve patient care delivery. Her expertise in healthcare IT and enterprise software combined with her consistent diligence helped build the CTOC.

Whatever the challenges the day may bring, Kelli assures that each client is treated as an individual and provides unprecedented care and attention.

“We listen to what our clients say and anticipate their needs,” she expressed. “Our goal is to exceed their expectations.”

The results? An extremely high-level of client satisfaction.

Aside from her leadership responsibilities at Sensato, Kelli is an accomplished Cybersecurity Operative who actively participates in the execution of NIST based risk assessments, penetration testing and incident response programs on behalf of our clients.

What many may not know? Kelli is also an “accomplished attacker” whose portfolio includes a host of cyber-attack missions. Her background in intelligence gathering, social engineering and vulnerability identification and assessment is vast.

When Kelli is not protecting the healthcare universe, she is managing her busy family schedule and attending community sporting events.

“My kids have me running from many activities such as baseball, basketball, ice hockey, field hockey, and cheer,” she shares.

What does Kelli like most about working in healthcare?

“We are all healthcare consumers, and knowing we are all making a difference in protecting patients is very rewarding.”

We are glad to have you on the CloudWave team, Kelli!
